Q.  Who can I call about river levels during flooding conditions?
A.
You can contact the staff at the Water Pollution Control Center for current and up to date river elevations and projected crest information. Contact us @ 419-424-7187

Q.  What is flood stage of the Blanchard River?
A.
768.50 feet above sea level which equates to 11 feet on the system used by the National Weather Service.

Q.  Why should I be concerned about improper downspout and sump pump connections at my home?
A.  If these connections are connected into the sanitary sewer they add storm water (which does not need to be treated at the Water Pollution Control Center ) to the sanitary sewer system. The sanitary sewer system is not designed to handle this excessive amount of water thus increasing the possibility of surcharging the system. The surcharge can result in water backing into basements or causing combined sewer overflows into the receiving streams. By having these connections checked and properly connected this will help to decrease system surcharging and decrease the amount of flow that needs to be treated at the Water Pollution Control Center thus helping to keep costs under control. Please contact the Water Pollution Control Center @ 419-424-7187 if you would like to have your downspouts and sump pump connections checked. This service is provided to the homeowner at no cost.

Q.  How much sewage flow can the Water Pollution Control Center treat?
A.
The facility is designed to treat 15 MGD (million gallons per day) with a peak flow during storm events at 40 MGD. Currently the facility is averaging between 10 -11- MGD.

Q.  Where does the water that you treat go to?
A.  The treated water is discharged into the Blanchard River.

Q.  How do you know if you have treated the water properly before you discharge it into the river?
A
.  The Water Pollution Control Center has a NPDES permit that is set forth by the Ohio EPA which provides us with the limits and monitoring requirements they deem necessary for our effluent water to be able to meet the clean water standards.

Findlay accept hauled waste?
A.  The City of Findlay Water Pollution Control Center accepts septage from properly licensed haulers. For more information please contact the Water Pollution Control Center at 419-424-7187.
